The NYS-supported One Work Force Center is located in the historic district on the old base at PARC.

Worker productivity in the Plattsburgh region ranks among the highest in the United States. That ranking was reported in Life in America's Small Cities (1997, Prometheus Books). The book rated 193 "micropolitan alternatives to metropolitan hassles," covering topics ranging from climate, environment and diversions to education, community assets, housing and transportation. Plattsburgh ranked in the top 10 nationally in the category defining "manufacturing sector strength". Over several years, Plattsburgh moved up progressively from #7 to #5 to #3 to #2 in Site Selection magazine's annual listing of "America's Top 100 Small Towns for Corporate Facilities" and it continues to rank in the top 10. This spurt in business activity, supported also by statistics that show that the North Country is New York State's fastest growing region economically, couldn't happen without an adequate, qualified work force.

The immediate Plattsburgh area supports four separate employment agencies that specialize in job recruitment services for companies seeking workers at the skilled, unskilled and professional levels. The community's two- and four-year State University of New York campuses are important sources for job talent and both offer career planning and placement services for alumni looking for jobs in their fields of expertise. The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce sponsors a career opportunities web page on its web site:
