In the 12 years since closure of Plattsburgh Air Force Base, PARC has evolved into a highly successful industrial park. All useable former military facilities are occupied by industrial and commercial companies and others have been converted to office buildings. Hundreds of dilapidated structures have been razed to create new build-to-suit sites (only about 20 properties remain to be sold out of an original 165 subdivided for development). The park features municipally maintained roads and utilities.

Available industrial and commercial sites are located in a state-designated Economic Development Zone, and that translates to added financial incentives for business that locate there. Additionally, all are situated in a Foreign Trade Zone.

The PARC property has two spurs and a turnaround on the main Canadian-Pacific rail line that runs from Montreal and points north to New York City and points south.  An on-premises rail link serves PARC's industrial complex.

A state-of-the-art childcare center operates at PARC under auspices of the YMCA. The Barracks golf course and an 8,000-foot Lake Champlain shoreline featuring a beach, docks and marina -- maintained by the city of Plattsburgh -- highlight outstanding indoor and outdoor recreational assets at PARC.

Aviation/Multi-modal Assets

When Plattsburgh Air Force Base closed, PARC inherited some of the finest aviation assets in the United States. They have since been transferred to Clinton County, whose new passenger terminal at Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG) opened in late spring of 2007.

Aviation and multi-modal assets offered at PARC and at PBG include:

11,759' of paved runway with 1,000' of paved overrun at each end
8,000' x 1,500' of concrete ramp for parking/staging of aircraft
GPS approaches for runways 17 and 35
An instrument landing system with high intensity strobe landing lights
Facilities built with capacity and strength to serve any type of aircraft
Excellent flying weather (98% VFR)
Nine separate hangars
1.5 million square feet of aviation-related industrial space
Well-maintained roads, water, sewer, electric and natural gas throughout complex
Direct rail access to the C-P main line, with on-site spurs and turnaround area
Direct highway access via Interstate 87 to Montreal and New York City
Direct access to the New York State Barge Canal and the St. Lawrence Seaway
One hour by rail or truck to the Port of Montreal (2nd largest port on the East Coast)
